Every painting begins in chaos.
Layers of colour, torn back and rebuilt. Dark tones pushed through with light. The process mirrors what we all know – that calm follows storm, that hope follows despair, that light always finds a way through. These are paintings about that moment. The break in the clouds. The sun on water after rain. The stillness that arrives when the turbulence passes. Original abstract paintings made in Nottingham. Inspired by the British coasts, moorlands and skies.
I’m Andy Taylor, a year ago I walked away from 35 years in marketing to paint full time. Since then my first solo show sold out, five paintings have gone on loan to Nottingham Trent University’s collection, and I’ve sold more than 40 original works to collectors who found me with no art-world network behind me at all.
