Description

Sea Glass Light came directly after the Sandsend paintings and marks a quiet turning point. The North Yorkshire coast was still the inspiration but something had shifted. The palette lifted. The mood softened. The light stopped fighting through the gloom and simply arrived.

Where the Sandsend works hold the tension between November darkness and unexpected gold, Sea Glass Light lets that tension go. The colours have the quality of light through frosted glass. Calm, diffused, gentle. The sea rendered not in drama but in the soft translucent tones you find in a piece of weathered glass washed smooth by the tide.

It is a painting about what comes after the storm. Not the dramatic break in the clouds but the quieter beauty that settles in once the weather has passed and the light finds everything clean and still.

Original acrylic on canvas. Ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included. UK delivery included. International shipping available.
