Description
Where the Light Breaks was built around a single image. The moon forcing its way through cloud cover. Those dark edges that press in from all sides, heavy and determined, and at the centre something that cannot be contained. A brightness that the darkness cannot hold back no matter how hard it tries.
There is something eternal about that image. The moon has been breaking through clouds for longer than we can comprehend and will continue long after us. That persistence is what this painting is really about. Not a dramatic victory of light over dark but something quieter and more certain. The brightness that simply keeps going. That drives us on when the edges feel too heavy and the centre feels too far away.
The light in this painting doesn’t triumph. It endures. And in enduring it becomes something more powerful than triumph.
