Abstract Artist Nottinghamshire
Andy Taylor is an abstract artist based in Nottinghamshire, working from a private studio in Mapperley, Nottingham. His paintings explore the emotional language of light, weather and landscape – using bold colour, layered texture and gestural mark-making to create work that feels instinctive, atmospheric and alive.
Andy works exclusively in acrylic, applying paint with palette knife and impasto technique to build surfaces that hold depth, movement and light. Each painting is a one-of-a-kind original – the result of an intuitive process that moves between chaos and calm, darkness and light.
Abstract Painting in Nottinghamshire
Abstract art resists easy definition. It is not a picture of something – it is a feeling made visible. Andy’s work draws on the raw energy of the British landscape: the wild coastlines of North Yorkshire, the moorlands of Derbyshire, the vast open skies that stretch above the East Midlands.
The paintings don’t represent these places literally. They carry their emotional weight – the restlessness of moving water, the stillness after a storm, the warmth of late light on open ground.
For collectors in Nottinghamshire looking for abstract art that brings genuine presence to a space, Art Haus originals are available to view online and by studio appointment.
Original Abstract Paintings
All paintings are unique originals, signed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity. Andy works in series, developing paintings that share a visual language across colour, energy and emotional tone.
Current series include the Sea Trilogy – three large-scale works exploring the movement and power of coastal water – and the Fire/Land Trilogy, a study in heat, earth and intensity. New work is added regularly as the studio practice continues to develop.
Sizes range from intimate works for smaller spaces to large statement canvases designed to anchor an open-plan living room or hallway.
Commissions for Nottinghamshire Collectors
Andy accepts a small number of commissions each year, working directly with collectors to create paintings that respond to a specific space, colour palette or emotional brief. If you have a wall in mind and a feeling you want the painting to convey, a commission conversation is the place to start.
Commission enquiries are welcome from across Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands.
