Description

Storm Surge came from a specific moment on the Yorkshire coast – standing at Whitby watching the sea in full force. Turbulent, unstable, overwhelming. The kind of power that makes you feel very small.

But there was something else in it. Something reliable. The surge always comes and the surge always passes. The chaos is real but it is not permanent. Underneath the violence of the water there is something ancient and certain that has always been there and always will be.

This original abstract seascape painting captures that tension – the raw turbulence of a sea in storm, held within a composition that feels grounded and sure. It’s a painting for anyone who knows that feeling of being in the middle of the chaos, needing to be reminded that solid ground is still there beneath it all.
