Firestorm

Description

I painted this during the hottest stretch of the summer, when the heat seemed to sit on everything and even the evenings felt charged. I had been out on the hillside near home, watching the light turn from white to gold to something closer to fire, and I could not stop thinking about how quickly it all changed.

Firestorm came out of that evening. I worked fast, layering reds and burnt orange with a palette knife before the feeling left me, letting some of the darker underpainting show through where the light had not quite reached. The diagonal sweep across the canvas is the moment the sky seemed to catch, that instant just before dusk when everything looks briefly alight.

This painting is part of my Burnt Skies collection, a series born from that long hot summer, alongside Euphoria and Wildfire. Each one takes a different angle on the same feeling, heat, light and the sense of something building. Firestorm is the most direct of the three, the one closest to how it actually felt to stand there and watch the sky change.

Painted in acrylic on canvas, 70 x 70  cm. Each painting comes with a certificate of authenticity. Shipping is standard tracked delivery.
