Heat

Description

Heat is the feeling of standing somewhere the sun has not finished with yet. That dry, radiant warmth that rises off the land and hangs in the air long after the day should have cooled.

I painted this around a single source of light, that pale gold burst breaking high in the sky, and let everything else answer to it. The reds and oranges roll down toward a textured ridge, scorched and alive, with flashes of gold catching along the lower edge. There is heat in every layer of it, built up slowly until the whole surface seemed to glow.

A painting for anyone who feels most alive when things are turned all the way up.
