Description
Pixel Shift was created for Digital Realms, an exhibition by Nottingham artist group Niche Artefact. The brief pushed me somewhere unexpected — into the territory where the digital and the elemental meet and discover they have more in common than you might think.
Layers of vivid pink, violet, mauve and charcoal grey gather and dissolve across the surface in a way that feels simultaneously like screen and sky. Like data and weather. Like something processed and something completely alive.
At the centre a bright opening draws the eye. It has the quality of both a portal and a sunrise. Something you might find on a screen or on a horizon. The painting sits deliberately in that ambiguous space between the two worlds and asks whether the distinction matters as much as we think.
A painting born from a digital concept that ended up feeling deeply, unmistakably human.
