Solar Flare

Description

Solar Flare belongs to the same series as Aurora Embrace, painted together over three intensive days in the studio during a blazing summer. Three of the five paintings in the series have already sold to collectors.

This one wanted to hold two things at once. The full force of summer heat and light blazing at its peak, and beneath it something cool and still that the heat could never quite reach. That particular quality of a very hot day where the air shimmers and burns but somewhere underneath, in the shade, in the earth, there is a stillness that the sun cannot touch.

The tension between those two states is what drives this painting. The flare above and the cool beneath. Neither cancelling the other out. Both true at the same time.

A painting that understands that intensity and stillness are not opposites. They can exist in the same moment, in the same light, on the same canvas.
