Reckoning

Description

Reckoning came from a moment I could not paint straight away. I sat with the feeling for a while before I let myself start, the sense of something you have been putting off finally catching up with you. When I did start, it came out fast.

I worked in layers of deep red and burnt orange against a base of dark, weathered blue, letting the two push against each other the way a reckoning actually feels, not calm, not resolved, just honest. The pale blue form in the top corner was the last thing I added, a small point of quiet in all that heat.

Reckoning was the first painting in my Burnt Skies collection, made before Firestorm, Euphoria and Wildfire, and it is still the one the other three sit around. Where each of those takes a single angle on heat and light, Reckoning tries to hold the whole feeling at once, calm and volatile in the same canvas.

Painted in acrylic on canvas, 60 x 80 cm, and presented in a black matt floating frame so it is ready to hang straight away. Each painting comes with a certificate of authenticity. Shipping is standard tracked delivery.
