Surfacing explores what it means to rise. Not suddenly, but slowly, the way a wave gathers strength long before it ever shows itself.

Dark blues and greens hang heavy above, storm coloured and dense, the kind of weight that can feel permanent when you are underneath it. But underneath the surface, something else is already happening. The water is turquoise, already lit, already climbing. Gold threads catch in the turmoil above, proof that even the heaviest conditions have light moving through them somewhere.

This is a painting about what happens before anything becomes visible. The work already underway beneath the surface, long before anyone can see it.
